North & East GTA Stroke Network
Within the North & East GTA Stroke Network (NEGTASN), the Regional Stroke Centre is Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC). The NEGTASN and SHSC are responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of stroke care throughout the region and across the continuum of care. The Regional Stroke Centre provides emergency medical management of stroke/TIA, specialized inpatient acute stroke unit care, and urgent and non-urgent secondary stroke prevention services and follow-up.
NEGTASN Executive Committee
The NEGTASN Executive Committee provides leadership and supports the implementation and continuous improvement of an integrated system of care within the region. It contributes to the Toronto Stroke Networks Steering Committee’s mandate for the oversight and coordination of the broader Toronto Stroke System. The NEGTASN Executive Committee provides regional advice and perspective to support the shared strategic plan and workplan of the TSNs.

Regional Stroke Best Practice Team
The Regional Stroke Best Practice Team is an interprofessional team providing occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, nursing, and nutritional counselling with a focus on improving clients’ functional abilities so they can live as independently as possible. They provide leadership and education to support development and implementation of best practice stroke care related to the assessment, rehabilitation, and recovery needs of persons with stroke in the hospital and community. Their role facilitates access to nursing and allied health stroke expertise and consultation services for patient assessment and treatment planning as required.
