Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Celebrates Stroke Month

During the month of June, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre held education booths for the public, educational events for health care providers on topics related to stroke and dementia, and a summer BBQ for Sunnybrook staff involved in stroke care and research.  Further, as part of Ontario Stroke Network events, Dr. Sandra Black, a stroke neurologist at Sunnybrook, gave a  videoconference on Stroke and Dementia, which was well-received by health care providers, patients and their families across the province.  A special thanks goes to Dr. Black and all those involved in organizing these special events.

Additionally, to raise funds to support the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Sunnybrook and the University of Toronto Stroke Program (UTSP) participated in the Heart & Stroke’s Big Bike Event on June 24th 2014.  Twenty-two riders comprised of health care providers, students, researchers, and health administrators raised a whopping $3,803 for this charity event.  Congratulations to Sunnybrook and UTSP teams for reaching above and beyond their fundraising goal, and a big thank you to everyone who donated or participated in this year’s Big Bike Event.
